At restaurants, I always choose booth seating and I dream of having a built in banquette in my own home some day. There is something about the casual, relaxed seating that encourages togetherness and conversation. We never entertain formally and it would always feel right to sit with friends and family in a cozy banquette area.
Here's the artwork, by Cori Dantini I chose to use as the inspiration for my cheery dining area:
I couldn't resist the juicy palate - I love the fresh spring green. Here's how it turned out:

Hi, Meg!! Its so great to meet you! I'm so excited we have somebody new joining us today:) And can I tell you how excited I am that someone saw the potential in this bird piece (besides for just a kid's room)!! I love the idea of it in a dining area. In fact, I love everything about this room!! Those chevron drapes, the hutch with the green interior, the banquette geometric fabric!! I have been lusting after that BD orb chandelier:) It's all perfect together. You did such a wonderful job, thanks so much for taking the time to participate. I'm going to have to follow along and check out the rest of your blog!
ReplyDeleteI love your dining room board!! I tried to use this piece at first in my mood board and just couldn't figure out which way to go but I love yours with the bright colors and those chevron curtains!! Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I were just trying to figure out how we can add a banquet to our home - I love them! Your moodboard is beautiful. My brain couldn't see this piece in anyhting but a kiddo room, but your fabric choices are brilliant and absolutely make this piece dining room worthy.
ReplyDeleteLove it! A great job Meg!!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun dining room. I love the citrus colours and those gorgeous cane chairs add such a cheerful summery vibe. It's great to see this painting used somewhere other than a children's room :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun story to go with your board! I actually have draperies in our living room in the same fabric and I absolutely love them. They are a great choice! Great concept you've done with your board.
ReplyDeleteI like how the drapes frame the artwork and the pillows complement it beautifully. I love a round table and the lighting fixture has long been a favorite. Great board!
ReplyDeleteI love this mood board! Silly question. Are the drapes (the inspiration image) from Tonic Living? I'm trying to find read made ones and wondered where that exact image came from as I love the tone of the yellow... xo Linds
ReplyDeleteHey Linds, the 'drapes' are actually a home sewn shower curtain. But I got a quote for the drapes from Tonic Living in grey. They are pretty reasonable and their work is always good quality! xo
