Friday Favourites!

Oh so glad it's Friday today.  I think I say that every week.  But it is especially true today.

My sweet little girl is actually singing both the US and Canadian national anthems at the London Knights hockey game tonight.  For 10,000 people!  I'm really excited for her and can't wait to see her all dressed up and ready to go.

I have a couple of faves for you today.

Tanya's amazing, artful Expedit Ikea Hack!  LOVE IT!

This amazing Christmas party at House of Turquoise.

And this exciting new Blog Event, presented by some very talented and creative women.  Can't wait to register!

Finally, these are a few of my fave holiday wishes:

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.  6.

Have a wonderful weekend!

My New Holiday Strategy

Ok, it all started when I read Angie's post about how she gets ready for the holidays in November so that she can really enjoy Christmas with her family during December.

via

I am traditionally a last minute Christmas gal.  I usually cram baking and shopping and parties and wrapping all into the last week or so before the big day. Madly scribbling off Christmas cards and enclosing photos printed at the last minute.   It makes me feel stressed for most of the month of December.  You know, worrying about getting it all done and that something will fall through the cracks.

The reason this usually happens is two fold.  First, I am a procrastinator.  I run on high adrenaline, getting stuff done at the very last second.  It only makes sense that this would spill over into my yuletide strategy.   Second, my boy's birthday is November 28th and my hubby's is the 29th, so I'm usually working on something for them right up until the first of December.

However, just as Angie inspired me to organize my back to school strategy, she has inspired me to re-think my Christmas strategy.  Basically, the idea is that if you get all the administrative details of the Christmas season done in November, you can really enjoy all the festivities that happen in December!  Makes sense, right?

Here's all the things I need to get done, and my timeline for their completion!

You can watch my blog to see the progress of some of these holiday projects.  I'm linking up to this fun party, that I saw on A Thoughtful Place:

Maybe you'd like to join up too?

Happy Friday!  My kids are home because it's a PD Day at their school.  That means a houseful of my own and a few spares.

Friday Favourites

Oh so glad the weekend is here!  I have been working a lot lately and I'm looking forward to having a little time to get some things in order around here.

The thing that's really been inspiring me to get things in order is Casey's 'Organization Weekend'.  She's tackled a few tricky areas, including the kitchen pantry, office, and bedroom closet.  It just makes me want to tear apart all the messy areas in my house and start organizing!  I love nothing more than a well organized closet!

Holy smokes, did you see this twin girls' bedroom?????  It's knock your socks off amazing.  I just love it. In fact, Edie's blog itself is new to me and I have been really enjoying reading over all the design projects she tackles.  You should check it out.

(Oh yeah, there's a killer bathroom attached too... lucky girls!)

And last, but certainly not least,

It's Mood Board Monday time again at Pewter and Sage (this one is going live on November 14th).  This one is featuring Dining Rooms and Dinnerware and I'm so excited to create another board for this series.  It's so fun to be creative and not really have to think of budget once in a while!  You should make a board too - check out this post for the deets.

I am also helping my parents with their new build.  The project is nearing completion - the distressed wood floors are in, the paint is on the walls, etc.  But there is one bathroom that is giving us some trouble.  It's got a North-facing window and my Mom wanted to paint it blue.  However, the light in there makes every soft, serene blue look like electric turquoise!  Not really what she's going for.  So this weekend, I'm doing a little painting in there to see if we can come up with a colour that will work.  Next week, I'll probably have a few shots of the house, since Jay is installing her kitchen cabinetry this weekend.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

Friday Favourites

Oh hooray, it's Friday!  We have survived the first week back to school!  I have actually been better organized than usual thanks to my first Friday Favourite, Angie at the blog Echoes of Laughter.

Angie posted a series called Back To School Organizing over the last week that is really helping me get it together this year.  Some of the things she wrote about were things I already did, but others were new and really helpful.

I'm working on organizing things around here.  We're still not really there since the move.  It drives me crazy when things aren't in order.  Right now, my little office off the kitchen needs lots of work.  I saw this office space at Amber Interiors and just loved it.

I love the hanging lights over each workspace and the inspiration/bulletin board she made.  Well done, Amber!

And the last thing was this pretty little bathroom makeover over at Design Indulgence.  Sherry didn't change the bones of the washroom (which I consider a good thing since it's budget friendly AND that's my favourite wallpaper of all time).  But she freshened it up a bit. And I adore the outcome.

So, those are my faves this week.  What did you love in blogland?
